The new Companies law overhauled the original Act that was implemented in 1956. NCLT has been replaced the company law board, the board for industrial and financial reconstruction and the appellate authority for industrial and financial reconstruction. The new body will have judicial and technical members. A person who has been a high court judge for a period of five years will be eligible to be the president of NCLT. The rules notified on Tuesday are about the terms of service of the president of the NCLT and other members. Company Law Board will continue to exercise its powers till the government notifies a date for transfer of all matters before it to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) under the new Companies Act.
